Believers as Trees of Righteousness

In several instances in the Bible, God likens believers to trees. Just as He created trees to bear fruits, He also created believers to be all-season fruit-bearing trees. That is why it refers to believers as trees of righteousness (Isaiah 61:3) and encourages them to bear fruits of righteousness (Philippians 1:11). Only trees of righteousness can bear fruits of righteousness. Jesus said that a good tree bears good fruits and a bad tree bears bad fruits. He added “by their fruits ye shall know them.”

God in and through Christ Jesus is out to make His people become trees of righteousness, to be known and shown as such. Are you like a tree of righteousness, and will you be like a tree of righteousness in your life, by God’s grace, to His honour and for your neighbour’s good?

Beloved, God created us in His image and likeness to be trees of righteousness. He saved you and me from our fallen state and enjoins us to bear fruits of righteousness. By so doing, like Him, we will help and encourage others to become trees of righteousness. How well have you fulfilled this mandate and ministry of yours? It is in becoming and living as God’s tree of righteousness and His planting with plenty of fruits to show for it that God is glorified. This is one area you need to tell God to give you increasing measure of grace everyday.

Perhaps you have not been living as a tree of righteousness or you have been a tree without fruits, barren and unfruitful, unprofitable and unfaithful. I encourage you to repent now. Becoming and living as God’s fruitful tree of righteousness is an expectation of heaven you must meet. It is important to your life and eternity as a believer!
